BMW driver Robert Kubica has only been a Grand prix driver for a little over two full seasons, the Pole recruited in mid season back in 2006, six months longer than the now world champion, Lewis Hamilton, and like the Brit, Robert has carved his named as one of the top racers in the sport.
In 2008 Robert was in command of the drivers’ championship mid season and still in contention with only a few rounds remaining. However, despite his strong season, Robert still believes he has yet to make that final step to the top….
"Last year, I had a good chance. Maybe not the chance of winning the title but of securing a slightly better championship position,” he said. “This year, however, we will have to cope with a completely different situation. The 2008 season is over and we have to focus on this year now. We have to get the maximum out of the car and be prepared as good as possible when we hit the road for the season opener."
"BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen said that a lot of the team's resources were used for designing and developing our 2009 challenger, in the second half of the 2008 season. So I hope that this effort will have paid off and the BMW Sauber F1.09 is the car that enables us to realise the goals we have set ourselves for 2009." |
