Loeb not to participate in season finale

It appears as if Rally driver Sebastien Loeb will be waiting a little longer before making his Formula One debut after reports emerging from France indicate that his application for a superlicense was rejected by the sport’s governing body.

Loeb was hoping to take part in the Formula One season finale at Abu Dhabi next weekend after finalizing the World Rally Championship in Wales this weekend, with rumours indicating that he would take the seat currently held by Jaime Alguersuari at the Scuderia Toro Rosso Team.

Loeb has taken part in a recent GP2 test as well as a one off test for Red Bull during winter testing but according to former four time champion, Alain Prost, it is best that Loeb doesn’t attempt the drive as it may destroy his career.

"It would have been unique and incredible for all fans of motor sport," he was quoted as saying. "But it would be such a shame to risk his reputation. It would have been absolutely impossible for him to be competitive on a circuit which he doesn't know, when all he has done is rallying throughout his career. That is not to put him down, on the contrary, but Formula One is not just any old thing. It is a completely different mountain to climb."
