According to reports in the Brazilian press, former F1 racer Tarso Marques is expecting to make an announcement shortly in regard to a return to the pinnacle of Motorsports. Marques, who used to race for the Minardi F1 team several seasons ago, told Brazilian website ‘formulanews’ that the deal is imminent.
While the 2006 deal is said to be a testing role, marques has revealed that 2007 would see him in a full time race seat.
“I’m waiting to announce a Formula 1 contract this week,” he was quoted as saying. “I will test for them in 2006 and race in 2007.”
There are not a lot of positions available with a third driver role at Williams, who incidentally are boasting quite a large amount of branding from Brazilian sponsor Petronas on their interim livery, and BMW Sauber F1, who are still to confirm Jacques Villeneuve alongside Nick Heidfeld, or their Friday tester. The new Super Aguri F1 team is yet another option….. |
