McLaren has new wing on standby...just in case
It was reported last week that there were concerns over the legality of McLaren’s rear wing ahead of this weekend’s season opening Bahrain Grand Prix with Red Bull racing’s Christian Horner indicating that a complaint had been made to the FIA over the Woking based squad’s interpretation to the regulations.

While Charlie Whiting was meant to go to the team’s factory and double check before the cars were shipped to Bahrain, another matter arose and the planned meeting failed to take place.

While McLaren are confident that their car is indeed legal and will pass scrutineering by the stewards in Bahrain, they are making sure that regardless of the outcome they will be racing come Sunday with another wing on standby just in case.....

"We're not taking a radically different package, but you just never know what the stewards are going to do on the day," the team’s managing director Jonathan Neale was quoted as saying by Reuters. "We get the best advice we can from the (governing) FIA in the interests of transparency. If the stewards decide on a different course of action though it's still our duty to go racing, so we have a contingency, but I wouldn't put much effort into it."
