Michael back behind the wheel at Mugello

After spending time in the simulator on Thursday afternoon at Maranello, seven time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher proceeded with work that will physically prepare him for the European GP on the 23 August.

The German legend went out onto the Mugello circuit for a private test in the F2007, complete with slick tyres, managed by the Formula 1 Clienti department at Ferrari, where he completed a total of 67 laps, the fastest in 1.23.736.

“It's a great thing getting back on the track with an F1 car even if this was a car from 2007 from the F1 Clienti department with slicks usually used in GP2 and obviously there is no real point of reference”- Michael said – “After a couple of laps I was able to drive constant lap times and I'm happy with the performance. Now we've got to see how my body and the muscles respond in the next days.”

The programme will be defined in the next days. Meanwhile the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro asked the other teams if they could test the F60 before the race at Valencia, a special one day session that will allow Michael to get a feel for the car he will be racing, and they agreed.
