There has been talk in recent weeks about a non official British Grand Prix with FOM chief Bernie Ecclestone and FIA President Max Mosley putting their weight behind the event, however BMW WilliamsF1’s technical director Sam Michael doesn’t hold a lot of faith in the race actually getting off the ground.
"It's very expensive to go to a Grand Prix, so if it doesn't count for the Championship it is very difficult to see why you would do it," Michael said on the team’s official website.
The 2005 official calendar only has a provisional place for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and Ecclestone and Mosley, as well as the BRDC, thought an unofficial event would keep the British fans happy as well as the local teams and sponsors.
