Midland haven’t contacted me yet says Davidson
There have been reports in recent days in regard to the new Midland/Jordan team’s interest in British American Racing test driver Anthony Davidson with new team boss Colin Kolles, admitting that he was quite taken with the young Brit and money wasn’t an option. "Anthony Davidson is one of my favourite drivers," Kolles told Reuters last week. ”We were looking at Davidson for a long time but we will see if we can find a solution. It's not that easy. It's not a question of (him being) expensive, not a problem." Anthony has since revealed that despite these words, he ahs yet to have any form of contact from the team, either directly or through his manager… “At the moment it has been on all the websites and also on TV, but they have not spoken to me or my manager,” he told Autosport. “It is nice to read the stuff and find out how people feel about you, but they have not actually seriously contacted us yet.” Even though BAR blocked a test with Williams last year, it is though that the Brackley based squad would let their third man go if it involved a full time race seat next season, but, as Anthony explained, even if Midland did present a deal, he wouldn’t necessarily jump at it… “Yes I want to race, but at the moment the team (Midland) has not even done one test yet,” he said. “I don't know what they have got, I don't know what to expect. As far as I know it is just on paper. They have not done one test and Melbourne is just around the corner, so if anything is going to happen it has to be very quick. I have been at the back of the field before in grand prix racing and it is not much fun and it does not make you look good. Until we are approached (by Midland) it is not worth thinking about – it's like a ‘virtual' possible drive. There are too many ‘ifs'. I have not got excited about it, but it is nice to see everyone talking about me. Let's wait and see.”
