New Spanish package for McLaren

After four flyaway events, the European season will get underway next weekend at the Catalunya circuit in Spain and despite leading both Championships as we head to the Barcelona track, the McLaren Formula One team is not satisfied with the pace of its MP4-25, especially as red Bull racing have secured all four pole positions so far.

Therefore, as we have the luxury of a longer break between races, the Woking based squad have worked hard on improvements and as such, team boss Martin Whitmarsh has revealed that they will be introducing a new package at the Spanish event.

"There is no secret that we will keep pushing. We have a new package that we are bringing for Barcelona and for every race we have demonstrated over the years that we can improve the car, race on race, and that is what we have got to do,” he was quoted as saying in Autosport.

"All the teams will be doing that and we just have to do it at a quicker rate. We are closer than we have been, we are not satisfied with the car, and we have to improve it and have to make it quicker. We can generate more downforce, we can bring on more aerodynamic efficiency, we can make is less sensitive, we can make it lighter, we can do all those things. That is our job and that is what we enjoy chasing and pursuing.”
