Despite winning his record seventh world crown in Belgium on Sunday by finishing second to Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari champion Michael Schumacher has no intention of hanging up his helmet anytime soon, with team boss Jean Todt confirming that his German superstar will continue to race for some time yet.
'It is an extraordinary record,'Todt said of Michael’s seventh world crown. 'He has nothing to prove but he drives for pleasure, he does the job which is his passion, to drive for a team that he loves and which loves him. I think it’s an enjoyable experience, which he has no wish to end. In a way it might seem extraordinary but he’s still young, he’s very motivated, he’s very fit and I repeat, he feels good, so he’s in an environment which brings him joy, serenity, the feelings that he enjoys, so there’s no reason for him to quit.'
Michael is under contract with the Ferrari squad until the end of the 2006 F1 season and he has even admitted that at this stage there is every possibility he will continue his tenure past this date. While this news isn’t what his rivals would like to hear, fans of this extraordinarily talented man will be thrilled to know he will continue racing and more than likely his winning ways.
