The 2007 Formula One season opener is almost here with the Australian Grand Prix set to get underway with the first official free practice session, which will be conducted under the new format, in just sixteen days, however, there is one other official team presentation to take place first, and that is the unveiling of the new Super Aguri Formula One contender, set to take place in Tokyo on the 12th of March.
"I feel a different pressure from last year now that we have to show our racing,” team boss Aguri Suzuki said. “Though we are a small team, we will do our best. We have worked well in pre-season testing and so we should be able to compete at a higher level."
However, before the small Honda powered team transport their new car to Australian for round one, it must pass the all important, and mandatory crash test conducted by the FIA, a test it has already failed once already but if reports are correct, then the all important modifications have been made to ensure it passes with flying colours this time.
Then, after it passes this test, it must pass another, and that is proving it is not a ‘customer car’, with several teams, namely Williams and Spyker, claiming that the new car is nothing but a hybrid version of Honda Racing’s 2006 contender, and if so, its participation in the 2007 championship will be in doubt. |
