Álvaro Parente flew to Bahrain today in order to participate in the next GP2 Asia Series event, which will take place on Friday, racing behind the wheel of a Coloni team car.
Following Aurora Racing Team’s project presentation, Álvaro was able to count on their support to accept the Italian team’s invitation and consequently return to racing for the first time since the end of the 2009 championship.
His return to GP2 Asia is acknowledged mainly as preparation for the new season.....
“Everything happened so fast and I only had time to grab my stuff and leave. I don’t know the team’s staff, but I know they are very pleased with my presence and it’s an excellent opportunity to drive a GP2 car once more,” he said.
The goal for the upcoming race is the same as always...
“...to do the best I can, knowing that they are already at the end of the championship and that it won’t be easy. However, I am already acquainted with this circuit and in the past I made there an outstanding race, which was only ruined due to a major problem with the car’s tires as well as small collision from Mortara.”
Álvaro mentioned in the Aurora Racing Team’s presentation that this year “he would seize all opportunities in order to keep on competing and to be able to fight his way in F1 in 2010 or 2011.”
He also took a moment to thank everyone for the support given throughout the year.
