Patrizi geared up for second GP2 test

Young Aussie racer Michael Patrizi will return to the Paul Ricard circuit in France next week where he will undergo his second testing session with GP2 team, David Price Racing. The test will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week where Michael will be able to really display his talent, and push from the start after learning a lot about the high downforce, high horsepower machines at his first test earlier this month at the same track.

The 22-year-old became the first Australian to drive a GP2 car when he climbed into the cockpit of the DPR contender on the 7th and 8th of October where he learnt a huge amount as he adapted from his normal racing machines, the Formula BMW’s and Atlantic cars to the awesome 580-horsepower GP2 machines. Therefore, the Kalgoorlie-born driver will be aiming to absorb as much as he can over the two day session and is thrilled by the prospect.

“I’m looking forward to getting back in a GP2 car next week,” said Patrizi. “I’ve got to thank David Price for having faith in me and inviting me back for further testing. I am confident that I will make improvement and build on everything I learnt at my first test. The two days I did with DPR at Paul Ricard went really well and I learned a huge amount from the DPR engineers. I know exactly which areas I have to improve in and I am looking forward to pushing harder and learning even more on these two days.”

“This time around I get into a GP2 car already knowing what to expect. Jumping into a GP2 car for the first time after racing in categories with a lot less power was a massive jump but one that was extremely beneficial. On this occasion I will not have to adjust to the horsepower and grip, so I can really push and see what the car is capable of around the fantastic Paul Ricard circuit. I’m excited just talking about it.”
