Raikkonen aiming for strong start to 09

The 2008 season wasn’t the best for Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen, who failed to successfully defend his world championship crown. The Finn’s somewhat lacklustre performances were even criticised by Ferrari President Luca Di Montezemolo, who claimed that he had two Kimi Raikkonen’s driving for him throughout the season.

After finishing third overall last year, behind teammate Felipe Massa, Kimi’s thoughts have turned to the new championship and he is confident that the past is in the past and his objective to reclaim his crown from McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton is a number one priority, especially as he has a strong contender to do it with.

Speaking to the Italian press, Kimi confirmed that he is focussed on getting a strong start to the championship behind the wheel of the new F60.

"I always try to give my best. Everyone knows what we can do and our objective is to win the championship," he was quoted as telling the Corriere della Sera. "But, there are many things that need to go well to achieve that, and I'm not necessarily talking about luck. I'm not thinking about that now though, instead I am thinking about doing some good tests and having a strong start to the season in the early races."
