Ralf joins the action at Jerez
BMW WilliamsF1 Team driver Ralf Schumacher returned to action at the Jerez circuit on Wednesday the German ace taking over the testing duties from Olivier Beretta, who successfully deputised on Tuesday after regular tester Antonio Pizzonia, who was scheduled to complete the test, was forced to miss the action due to a sprained ankle. Ralf took to the Spanish track under ideal weather conditions where he completed some chassis work in the morning, and tyre testing for the forthcoming Brazilian Grand Prix at Sao Paulo in the afternoon. He completed a total of 80 laps, posting the best overall time of the day with a 1:16.831. Ralf was joined at the circuit by regular tester Marc Gene in the second FW26, the Spaniard spending his day concentrating mainly on starts and traction ahead of the final two races of the season. He completed a total of 88 laps, posting a best time of 1:17.210 and both drivers will continue the program here later today. "Ralf Schumacher took over from Olivier Beretta, joining Marc Gene for the second day of the test,” said Tim Newton. “Ralf completed 80 laps in total and managed to record the quickest time of the day. During the session, he tested various tyre compounds in preparation for the Brazilian Grand Prix, as well as completing some suspension work and practise starts. Meanwhile, Marc covered 88 laps evaluating the FW26’s traction control system and carrying out tyre development work with Michelin.”
