According to reports in the Austrian press, Red Bull Chief Dietrich Mateschitz has hinted that he won’t be satisfied this year unless his Red Bull Racing outfit bring home the world championship crown. After finishing second to brawn Grand Prix in 09, Mateschitz believes that they must go that one step further and finish on the top step as part of their natural progression.
"We have realistic expectations that of course progressed each year. Last year we wanted to finish among the top three teams, which we achieved,' he was quoted as saying in the Salzburger Nachrichten.
Mateschitz went on to explain that it was mainly thanks to the double decker diffuser row that his young racer, Sebastian Vettel, missed out on taking the number one for himself and the team, the young German eventually having to settle for second when the championship came to a close.
"At the start of last season, we were the only team without a double diffuser that could match Brawn's pace," he said. "If you consider we had to rebuild the car, Vettel had to accept the penalty after Melbourne, he could have been champion already last year." |
