Retire gracefully David says Eddie Irvine
Former Jaguar and Ferrari racer Eddie Irvine believes that the time has come for David Coulthard to hang up his helmet and gloves and retire gracefully from Formula One rather than beg anyone and everyone for a ride on the 2005 championship grid. Irvine, who retired from racing himself two years ago when he left the Jaguar Racing outfit, knows what it’s like to be in the Scot’s shoes but after being turned down by Red Bull, who have opted for youth over experience, his former Williams team and Sauber, it is obvious that David’s options have all but run out. “David never won the world title and never will. He always had a top car but was never quick enough,” Eddie said in the Sun. “I find it staggering he is prepared to hawk himself around. He should realise his time in Formula One is over, walk away and concentrate on getting on with his life.”
