The young driver test will get underway at the Jerez circuit in Southern Spain tomorrow where young drivers from all over the world, that have under three grand prix experience in the world of Formula One, will get together with various teams and try out the Formula One machinery. One of those young drivers is Aussie racer Daniel Ricciardo, who took the honours in the 2009 British F3 championship and he can’t wait to fulfil his lifelong dream.
Ricciardo will be behind the wheel of the Red Bull contender that came second in this year’s championship with Sebastian Vettel and fellow Aussie Mark Webber at the wheel, but the young racer refuses to feel pressured by the situation and he is determined to have as much fun as he can....
"I'm going to have as much fun as I can," he told the AAP. "I'm not going to feel under any serious pressure but at the same time I hope I can go fast. It's been a dream of mine since I was a boy to drive an F1 car and I can't quite believe I'm going to fulfil it. For it to be with the strongest-finishing team of the F1 season makes it even more special."
In the lead up to this week’s test, Daniel has been at the Red Bull factory in Milton Keynes where he underwent a set fitting and spent time on the simulator and he already ahs the backing of Australia’s only Formula One racer, Mark Webber.....
"He is a great young bloke. He has done very well. He is in Red Bull's junior driver development squad and he comes with good raps from the people who have worked with him. I have spoken to him a few times. It is very positive. It is good that he is doing an F1 test. He will get a bit of mileage." |
