Ron Dennis in a Ferrari!

Formula One contenders aside, there were numerous single-seaters on the Bahrain International Circuit over the past weekend with 18 other cars present to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Formula One Championship, from 1950 until today, with some ex-World Champion cars proudly on display.

In amongst this there were also four Ferraris…and a half! Together with a 375 F1, a 500 F2, a 158 F1 and a 312 T4 there was also the chassis from a 125 GPC reinterpreted as a Thinwall Special.

All these wonderful cars were driven by exceptional people: there were 18 of the 20 World Champions still alive present in Bahrain (Nelson Piquet and Kimi Raikkonen were missing), while others, such as Jody Scheckter and John Surtees even sat behind the wheels of their World Champion cars.

Furthermore, thanks to Bernie Ecclestone’s convincing capacities, the spectators could watch men like Ron Dennis behind the wheel of a Ferrari Formula 1 single-seater: who would have thought they would ever see that?
