Despite a ten place grid drop and starting twenty first on the grid in Belgium last weekend as a result, Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher crossed the finish line of the wet and chaotic event on the Spa Francorchamps circuit in the points, and is now gearing up for a repeat performance in Monza next weekend, for the European finale of the 2010 season.
While he has raced many many times at the Monza circuit and has a brilliant record, this year will be totally different to what he has been used because after his three year break, he won’t be racing here in Ferrari red and receiving the total adoration of the tifosi.
That said however, Michael is still confident that he will still be received quite warmly, despite the change of team....
"Spa was quite an entertaining race weekend which I like to look back on as we achieved a reasonable result considering the circumstances. The next race in Monza might well be entertaining in a very different way as I expect it to be a real challenge for our team. We have seen already several times this year that circuits with characteristics like those of Monza do not really play in our hands.” He said.
“Of course, we will go there prepared to try hard to achieve the maximum we can from our package and we will see to what extent we can achieve that and fight our way through. On a personal level, I am very much looking forward to returning to Monza where I have been supported so warmly over so many years." |
