With the news of Michael Schumacher’s retirement from the world of Formula One racing came the news that Finnish racer Kimi Raikkonen would take his place in a new three year deal with the Scuderia Ferrari team, a signing that the seven time world champion was fully involved in, according to Ferrari’s new CEO, Jean Todt.
"The choice of Kimi was taken together with Michael,” Todt explained. “He was always informed on a daily basis of the discussions we had. He knew before and during the meetings, and knew of the decision. So it wasn't a decision taken suddenly without informing him and he's always agreed with this choice.”
This will put paid to all the absurd speculation from many of Schumacher’s critics that the reasoning behind his retirement was that he didn’t want to go head to head with the former McLaren driver. |
