Scuderia Ferrari demonstration at Monza today
The Ferrari Maserati World Finals continued on Saturday at the Monza circuit in Italy. The event brings the Group’s racing season to a close and the final day today Sunday 31st October ends with a demonstration run by four of Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro’s F2004, driven by Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Luca Badoer and Andrea Bertolini. Saturday’s program saw cars competing in the Shell Ferrari Maserati Historic Challenge, the Trofeo Vodafone Maserati and the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy all take to the track, as well as the historic single-seaters run by the Maranello F1 Clienti Department. In the Trident marque’s one-make event, Francesco Ravasio set the best time, proving to be faster than current championship leader, Andrea Palma and the Notter/Cattori crew, who tomorrow start from second and third places respectively on the grid. In the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, Nicola Cadei repeated his performance from yesterday, beating Lorenzo Bontempelli (Rossocorsa) and Fabio Santaniello (team Maranello) across the line. In the Shell Cup, today’s win went to Quinto Stefana (Rossocorsa.) The race for the Europe and USA Challenge 360 was won by the Czech, Roberto Pergl (HP- Exclusive,) heading home Ireland’s Paddy Shovlin (Rossocorsa) and Belgium’s Louis Machiels (Ferrari West Europe Organisation.) First of the North American competitors was Douglas Peterson (Shelton Ferrari,) who finished seventh overall. The Monza circuit also staged the first races in the Shell Ferrari Maserati Historic Challenge. Wins at the end of the day went to England’s Tony Smith at the wheel of a Ferrari 256 F1/FL in category “A” for single-seaters, Germany’s Thomas Bscher and his Maserati 450 S in the “B” group, for sport and GT cars fitted with drum brakes and Italy’s Massimo Sordi in a Ferrari 512 BB LM in the “C” group for cars with disc brakes.
