It comes as no surprise that Ferrari and Renault lead the way over their colleagues in the 2006 Formula One season as far as reliability and performance was concerned, however when you look at the overall statistics from the past eighteen races, it is somewhat of a shock to see the WilliamsF1 team at the bottom of the charts in almost every aspect.
While it was common knowledge that the Grove based squad had fallen quite hard this year, hence their eighth placed finish in the constructor’s championship, it was not expected that they would finish behind the newest boys on the block, Super Aguri, in terms of completed race laps and overall race finishes. They also recorded the most amount of crashes with ten, while MidlandF1 was second highest with eight and McLaren was third with seven.
In terms of technical problems, Ferrari was the most reliable with just one, while Super Aguri was at the bottom of the ladder on 13, just one more than Toyota and three more than Williams.
Renault and Honda had the least amount of accidents with just one each from 36 starts while Honda topped the times in regard to testing mileage over the course of the season. With testing being severely restricted next season, the Brackley based squad will need to curb their time on the test track, their 54,816 kilometres almost twenty times the amount carried out by Super Aguri.
