Testing is more enjoyable this year says Heidfeld

BMW Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld is enjoying the pre season testing sessions a lot more this year because there are a lot more things to try out than in previous championships.

With the new rules and regulations, including the controversial new KERS system, slick tyres and revised aerodynamics, the German racer has a lot more to learn.

“Testing is more enjoyable this year because there are so many new things,” he told the team’s official website. “We are learning new things and many new perspectives are coming up. I have to change my driving style and it’s something that comes partly by experimenting and partly automatically.”

After two four day sessions at the Bahrain International Circuit recently, the Hinwil based squad are still working on finding the right balance and set up for the car, another task Heidfeld relishes….

“This task is also more interesting than it used to be. You are not there spot on yet, so there is a lot of potential and it is a lot of fun to find new ways for improvement.”
