Less than a month remains until the world’s most technologically advanced race circuit plays host to motorsport’s most exciting new Championship – GP2. Bahrain International Circuit hosted “the best ever Grand Prix” according to Sir Frank Williams earlier this year, and although the Circuit’s tarmac has scarcely had time to cool from the constant action it has seen over the past five months the arrival of GP2 is already hotly anticipated.

With just three more rounds remaining and the drivers’ championship on a knife edge the final race at Bahrain is almost certainly going to prove to be the decider for these future stars of the sport. With 66 points remaining, 22 per race weekend, it is conceivable that come Bahrain, four or five drivers are in a position to take the inaugural GP2 Drivers’ title.

It’s not only the drivers that will be sweating it out however as the teams’ championship, the lead of which has been switching hands all season, will surely only be decided upon passing the chequered flag in Bahrain. ART Grand Prix team currently leads the way with Arden International second.

Designed by famed F1-track guru Hermann Tilke, Bahrain International Circuit promises to challenge these young drivers in a way no other has before. The 5.441km of asphalt is wide enough to allow a great deal of overtaking, as it sweeps through the hill-strewn, arid desert landscape. With track temperatures likely to reach the mid 50’s and humidity levels hitting the 90% mark, drivers are going to have to be at their fittest to compete.
