As the Formula One circus sets up camp in the Nurburgring paddock, reporters have had their first real chance to ask their opinions on FOM chief Bernie Ecclestone’s recent controversial comments in regard to Adolf Hitler and the fact that when he was in power, he knew how to get things done. Ecclestone has received a lot of backlash from German group over the comments and even though he has issued an apology, forgiveness has not been forthcoming.
Now, BMW’s Motorsport Director, Dr Mario Theissen has given his two cents on the matter, calling the seventy eight year olds comments ‘wrong’ and ‘disgusting’ however he is confident that Ecclestone will make yet another apology when he makes his official appearance at the Nurburgring.
"I would say obviously wrong, disgusting," Theissen said of Ecclestone’s comments. "Apparently he was shocked himself when he was confronted with what he has said. He has made some comments meanwhile and as I have heard, he will make some more comments as soon as he is here and I think this is necessary."
