It was another cold day in Barcelona on Wednesday and although it was a dry start, rain fell around ten am meaning that the BMW SauberF1 team lost roughly an hour of very vital running time. Regular driver Nick Heidfeld was on duty once again, the German racer continuing to test the car’s new transmission as well as undergoing long and short runs on the new Bridgestone tyres. At the end of the session the team was happy with his day’s work.
Meanwhile, teammate Robert Kubica had the same goal, working on the car’s set up on new tyres, concentrating on this rather than testing new parts on day two. Both cars practiced starts in the morning session and while Nick has now finished work for the week, Robert will carry on for the third and final day here tomorrow, taking over work on the new transmission.
As previously reported, Nick’s place will be taken by Timo Glock, who will be undergoing his first test with the BMW Sauber F1 Team. Timo will have what the team describe as a ‘normal first day of testing’ which will include becoming acclimatized with the car. |
