Although the 2004 Formula One season is far from being what they had hoped for with victory alluding their drivers in the twelve rounds contested so far, however the BMW WilliamsF1 squad is still looking to turn things around in the remaining six events.
The final third of the season will get underway at the Hungarian circuit in Budapest next month after a relaxing three week break and Sir Frank Williams knows what has to be done to take advantage of the remaining opportunities where they can add points to their Constructors’ Championship account.
“It’s very simple: in order to win you need a car in which you can win in,” he said. “Our goal has to be to supply a car that is in a position to do so. The best driver in the world can only win when he has a car capable of doing so.”
Even thought the FW26 isn’t winning races, it is definitely faster than its predecessor, the FW25 but that isn’t the problems as their competitors have also improved significantly, more so that the Grove based squad and that is where the problem lies….
“The WilliamsF1 BMW FW26 is faster than its predecessor, but Ferrari, B.A.R., Renault and McLaren-Mercedes have also improved,” explained the Englishman.
Williams is busy developing the FW26 even further ahead of round thirteen and while on track testing is not permitted, short shakedown runs are allowed.
