Ferrari boss Jean Todt refuses to make anything out of his post race comment regarding the podium here at the German Grand Prix when the Frenchman stated that his moment of the day that he will keep in his mind was the podium ceremony that featured his three favourite drivers, Michael Schumacher, Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen.
It is no secret that Raikkonen is said to have signed a deal with the Scuderia for next season so the fact that the Finn stood on the third step of the podium, Todt’s comments seemed to indicate that he was definitely Maranello bound. However, Todt clarified that this was just a basic statement, similar to one he said years ago, and that just because he admired all three men didn’t mean anything in regard to the team’s future driver line up.
“I made a general comment. I said that on the podium there were my three favourite drivers, which is true, but it's nothing new,” he said in his post race interview. “You feel it's new because you are speculating who is going to drive and who will be announced. But, if you take my comments two years ago, when I was told, by the same guys: who do you prefer among the new drivers? I always said Raikkonen. So you have Schumacher, he's my hero. You have Massa, I'm very close to him, he does a good job. We've had him for five or six years with us and Kimi. There is no other message." |
