Todt presents a charitable initiative for ICM in Magny-Cours
at Magny Cours on 4 July. The initiative is the result of a collaboration between ICM, an research organization concerned with brain and spinal chord disease and the FFSA, the French motor sport body and is designed as a fund raising project.
'My dear friend Prof Gerard Saillant and I have created the ICM with the specific aim of setting up something that will benefit humanity,' said Todt, who is a member of the institute’s executive committee. 'We felt it would be very useful to bring together people from different walks of life along with the leading lights of the medical world, drawn together by friendship and respect. This initiative in Magny Cours will bring in invaluable funding.'
FFSA President Jacques Regis went into more detail about the event that will take place during the weekend of the French Grand Prix. A site will be set aside for donations to be made and everyone making a contribution will have their name placed in a raffle to win a ride round the track with a top class driver, namely a Ferrari F1 driver.
Also at the conference was Prof. Olivier Lyon-Caen, a neurological specialist with the ICM who spoke about the work of the institute, including the building of the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital which should be completed in 2008.
Bernie Ecclestone was also at the presentation.
