According to reports in the German press, Ferrari team boss Jean Todt would welcome a request from former driver, Michael Schumacher, to take on a team principal role at the outfit that took him to five consecutive Formula One titles and saw him break almost every record in the history of the sport.
In an interview with auto, motor und sport magazine, Todt admitted that he would be delighted if Michael, who is currently working in an advisory role at the Italian marque, uttered the words, 'team principal is the next stage in my career', because in his opinion, a return to the driver’s seat is definitely out of the question.
"Michael was an exceptional driver who accumulated an unbeatable amount of titles and victories,” the Frenchman was quoted as saying by the DPA. “When he retired, then he did so for good reasons. Michael is a member of the Ferrari family. We suggested to him that he remain part of the firm by being an advisor. He knows so much about cars, not only racing cars, that we want to use his experience." |
