According to reports in Autosport, the teams taking part in this year’s Formula One championship have agreed to add a little twist to this seasons races by making the top ten drivers on the grid start the race on their qualifying rubber.
In previous years the top ten drivers were forced to start the races on their various fuel levels used in the top ten shoot out, however with refuelling now banned teams have decided that this way it would add that little bit of strategy that would otherwise be missed.
Just like last year, drivers will need to use both the option and the prime tyre at each round, so if this proposal is passed by the FIA, they will need to decide if going for the better time on the fast tyre is worth the sacrifice of starting the actual race on the less durable rubber.
The idea behind the proposal is to try and spice up the show and make races more exciting. |
