Toro Rosso another option for Barrichello

While Honda Racing tried out young guns Lucas di Grassi and Bruno Senna whilst delaying informing their current driver Rubens Barrichello whether or not his services will be needed next season, the Brazilian racer has revealed that he Honda is not his only option for a drive in the 09 Championship season.

“There is a lot of talk about what’s going to happen, but I would like my readers, above all, to know that I am very proud of everything I have accomplished. I am saying this because it seems like I still want to race because I have to prove myself, but this is not why I want to stay in F1. I want to keep going simply because I love it and I still have a lot of energy,” he said on his official website. “Now let me clear something up. I’m avid for challenge and victory. That is my motivation to continue working really hard and keep racing. I have a chance of going to two very competitive teams: Honda or Toro Rosso. This is what motivates me right now.”

Toro Rosso have tried out other drivers with a view to finding a replacement for Red Bull Racing bound Sebastian Vettel, including another former Honda racer, Takuma Sato. The Faenza based squad claim that they are looking for an experienced racer for the new season, and they couldn’t come more experienced than Barrichello, the holder of the record for the most Formula One races contested by a single driver.
