Jarno Trulli has vented his frustration at a poor start to the 2010 Formula One season with the new Lotus racing team. The Italian knew that joining a new team would have its hiccups as they strived to catch up to the rest of the grid, however he didn’t think it would be this bad.
Speaking in Italian magazine, Autosprint, Jarno explained that in his opinion, all the bad luck is hitting his car and not teammate Heikki Kovalainen, who has managed to finish three of the four flyaway events, even if they were well down the order.
Despite his problems Trulli won’t make a full judgement on the Malaysian based team until the season comes to a close.....
"I knew it wouldn't be easy that everything would be new and we would need time, but I did expect to drive at least. Instead after four races, once I did not start and when I did get to the finish, it was because it was already decided that I should take the chequered flag, even if it was in far from ideal conditions.”
"Bad luck seems to persevere on my car, everything happens on my car and only my car. So up until now my expectations have not been met. It's still early days and we need more time for a reliable judgement. I'll pass judgement at the end of the year.”
That said however, he fully believes the problems only exist because the team hasn’t had the time to iron out all the bugs...
"On paper our team is definitely the best of the new teams. We operate like a real team in a top series, but unfortunately we are only at 10% of our potential because of lack of time. There's no testing, and the racing weekend is the only chance to test and oil the structure. For us this is an apprenticeship year, we'll see the potential in 2011 when many of the structural problems will be behind us and we'll be able to concentrate on the design of the new car.” |
