Rumours surrounding the demise of USF1 continued overnight especially after someone discovered that the server used to host the Charlotte based squad’s website was down, indicating to them that the team had folded and their website pulled. That however is not the case with the server coming back on line and the site being still there as bold as life.
While there is no further news about what is happening, not even an update to dispel these continuing rumours, one thing can’t be missed and that is the fact with only a few weeks to go until the season opening Bahrain grand Prix, they are yet to turn a wheel in anger.
Pre season tests were planned and approved to take place in Alabama and these have failed to happen, even the mandatory crash tests are yet to happen.
Reports in the New York Times, a very reliable source, indicate that the situation is very grim with financial difficulties gripping the Charlotte based squad, but to date Peter Windsor is yet to publically address the situation, making the rumours grow even stronger.
Whatever the real truth may be, it is obvious that the team are nowhere near ready to begin their debut season and while Bernie Ecclestone once said that teams could miss races and not be penalized, the FIA was quick to confirm that that situation won’t be tolerated. |
