While the end of season Macau event was taking place on the circuit of Guia over the weekend, runner up in the 2009 Formula One championship, Red Bull racer Sebastian Vettel, was busy at a race of a different kind, a NASCAR event at the Homestead Miami Speedway, the German spending the weekend watching and learning from former Williams and McLaren driver, Juan Pablo Montoya.
“There’s advice about the sport, how things work, what to look out for. You can always learn,” he told the press. “I’ll get an idea of how things roll over here.”
That said however, the up and coming superstar in Formula One confirmed that he had no intention of defecting to the American based series anytime soon and even if he did, he doesn’t think it would a very easy thing to accomplish....
“I think it’s not as easy as saying I’ll find a team and I’ll find money. I think it’s very difficult here to get accepted and really get into the whole thing. If they don’t like you, you come here and you think you are the greatest and best ever, people can prove you wrong very quickly.”
Meanwhile, another former McLaren driver was also present in Homestead, Heikki Kovalainen, along with several members of the Woking based squad. |
