As well as claiming the final win of the season and securing second place in the 2009 drivers battle, Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel picked up another trophy last Sunday at the all new Yas Marina Circuit when he was awarded the DHL Fastest Lap Trophy after he set the fastest time in the Abu Dhabi event.
The DHL Fastest Lap Trophy award is given to the driver who records the most fastest laps over the year and Sebastian, as well as his Aussie teammate Mark Webber, had three quickest laps apiece throughout the 2009 racing season, but as Seb had more second fastest laps than his Milton Keynes counterpart, he got to take the trophy home.
“I am very pleased,” said Vettel. “It means a lot to me to have my achievements recognized in this way. I wanted to post the fastest lap of the race, which is why, just before the finish; I really put my foot to the floor again. It was more than worth it.”
