After crossing the line in eighth place, four places higher than he started, Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso is far from happy with the performance of his car, stating that the way things are they are only on par with the likes of Renault and Mercedes, not up the front with Red Bull Racing and McLaren.

The lack of pace has surprised the team, who expected to be further up the front at this event, their 800^th Grand Prix start, however they are looking a little bit further ahead and hoping that improvements coming for the next two rounds will help the situation.

"We have been a bit surprised, as both in Barcelona and here we were not too competitive. All race Felipe fought with Rosberg and I fought with Petrov, so we are at Renault's level, which is obviously not enough,” he told Spanish TV.  

"We have an improvement for Canada and then for Valencia we have a bigger package. But we know McLaren and Red Bull are very far away, and we don't know if that's enough, so we have to work very hard."
