Even though McLaren drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Juan Pablo Montoya lost the 2005 drivers championship very early in the season when they suffered reliability gremlins and, in Juan Pablo’s case, physical injuries that left him sidelined, the Colombian racer believes that they deserve to take the 2005 constructors crown instead.
With just two races remaining, back-to-back events in Japan and China, the Woking based squad have moved into the lead, two points ahead of Renault and Montoya is convinced that the fact that they have a much stronger package than their French rivals will enable them to clinch the crown, especially if they secure another two victories!
“The Drivers’ Championship is over but I think we have a stronger car than Renault so we should be able to win again,” he said. “Our car has showed to be reliable, we had a couple of problems earlier in the year but in the last few races we have been stronger so we should be able to beat them. As a team we are probably a lot stronger, we are a lot stronger now and I think we deserve the Constructors’ Championship to be honest.” |
