Just two days after finishing third in the 2010 Formula One season opener at the Bahrain International Circuit, 2008 champion Lewis Hamilton will arrive at his McLaren team’s Woking headquarters to help ‘push’ the team into making an extra effort ahead of round two in Melbourne Australia next weekend.
"Our pace in the race is not bad, not as bad as we first thought, but we still need to push really hard to close up to the Ferraris and Red Bulls. If we keep pushing then I do feel we can close the gap to these guys, and hopefully be on the top of the podium,” he said.
“It's going to be difficult in such a short time frame to do that, so I need to go back now and give the team the biggest push. They are all pushing flat out as it is, but one extra person or two extra people can be more of a force”
Hamilton added that there is no time to slack off and they needed to work on upgrading the car now as well as adding further upgrades throughout the season in an attempt to close the gap and in his opinion, there is one area they really need to work on as soon as possible...
“We need to work out how to improve the low-speed downforce because that is really where they are taking the time away from us." |
