What now for Schumacher?

Retired seven time world champion Michael Schumacher, has admitted that his racing days may not be over completely, however if he does return to the race track , it wont be for a few years.

While the press continue to hound the sports most successful racer in regard to his future plans, Michael continues to give the same answer, “I don’t know” however, if the truth be known, all he really wants to do right now is relax, especially after such a hectic 2006 Formula One season and think about what to do next in a few months time.

"For now, in any case, I can only answer this way. Niki Lauda went back to racing in F1. Mika Hakkinen races in DTM, but all this happened after some time,” Autosport quoted him as telling Fredrik af Petersens. "I can't say with certainty what I will do in two or three-year's time.”

Michael has received numerous accolades since his final race at Interlagos last weekend, including being gifted an Island off Dubai from crown prince - Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. A book about his career is also due to be released in the not too distant future while strong speculation still links him to a future role at Ferrari, just not one that will see him spend a substantial amount of time in the cockpit.

Meanwhile, his football coach, Patrick Ferrari, is hoping he will turn his attention to pulling his local team, FC Echichens, up the ladder to glory now that he won’t have to rush off to a racetrack…

“I hope he now has some more time for us,” Ferrari was quoted as saying in Blick.
