Michael Schumacher is taking a small break after coming third in Sunday’s Turkish Grand prix, the seven time world champion recharging his batteries before the final four races of the season, something that is important for any athlete to do. However, it won’t be a long break as today he will head to Monza in order to be ready to take to the track to test on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of next weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
It is here that the team will announce their 2007 line-up, and despite constant speculation that Michael Schumacher will be announcing his retirement, something that FOM chief Bernie Ecclestone flamed even higher when he told German television that while Michael is always competitive, he has probably already decided to retire, a comment Jean Todt reacted fiercely to…
"I’ll tell you something. Bernie Ecclestone does not have a single element to judge what Michael has decided,” Todt said. “You know, he has a good know-how about racing, but Michael joined Ferrari in 1996 and one day he will decide to stop. When the day arrives we will let you know."
That said, the Frenchman wasn't saying anything about the future line-up, but he was asked whether the constant speculation all season about drivers has been unsettling for the team.
"No, it is like step by step. Before it was another thing and after it will be something else. I know that to do the job you need to create interest. So once one interest is over then you have to find another one, and it is fair. It is fairer if it does correspond to reality, sometimes." |
