If reports in ‘News of the World’ can be believed, the BMW WIlliamsF1 team has agreed to allow Jenson Button to remain with the British American Racing team in 2006, letting the Brit out of the contract he signed with them last year, if BAR cough up enough money.
The tabloid reports that the BAR squad have already offered Williams approximately 20 million pounds for Jenson’s continued services but Williams, who stated in Turkey that he wouldn’t sell the drivers contract for a 100 million, is said to have turned it down as it wasn’t enough.
"Their first offer was way short of the mark," an insider at the Grove based squad allegedly said. "Frank can play hard-ball on this because we have a water-tight contact with Jenson for next season. If BAR are so keen to keep Jenson they will have to offer a lot more money."
The ‘lot more money’ is reportedly 50 million pounds.... |
